Winter in the Okanagan
December – March
The Ski Hills
Big White Ski Resort
The closest to Kelowna, about 55 minutes. Night skiing, a full village, and reliable powder. The obvious choice for a ski day from the property.
Silver Star Mountain Resort
An hour from Vernon. Worth the drive — less crowded midweek, a charming Victorian-style village, and excellent groomed runs.
Apex Mountain Resort
Near Penticton. Smaller, local favourite, shorter lift lines. A great option if you want a quieter day on the hill.
We can arrange lift tickets, ski rentals, and transportation to any of the hills.
Nordic & Snow
- Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre (near Silver Star) — world-class groomed trails
- Telemark Nordic Club — Kelowna area trails
- Snowshoeing: Knox Mountain, Myra Canyon (dramatic in winter snow)
Wine & Après
- Icewine releases happen in January — small production, worth visiting in person
- Tasting rooms are quieter in winter, staff have more time for you
- Several west Kelowna wineries do afternoon tastings year-round
- Après ski options in Kelowna: the restaurant scene is excellent in winter
In Town
- Skating at Stuart Park waterfront
- Holiday markets in December
- Indoor brewery and distillery tours
- Kelowna restaurant scene is at its best in winter — fewer tourists, easier tables
Ski day sorted. Dinner booked.
